Control of the overflow cavity.

ESPECIALLY FOR OUR USERS

A injection molding simulation with a controllable overflow cavity without detouring through a special module requiring an additional license? No problem!

Overflow cavities are particularly used for special processes, such as GIT. Gas injection forces the melt into the overflow cavity, forming a cavity within the part. The position, dimensions, opening and closing of the overflow cavity can be used to control gas expansion and the resulting cavity size.

The latest versions of Moldex3D allow you to control the overflow cavity in both special processes and conventional injection molding. For instance, delaying the opening of the overflow cavity can specifically influence the filling behavior as well as the fiber orientation and/or weld line, in certain areas. In the simulation model, the overflow cavity can be imported as a 3D solid or modeled in Moldex3D Studio. Assigning the "overflow cavity" attribute ensures that it is taken into account in the simulation. The settings for controlling the overflow cavity(ies) are located in the advanced process settings for the filling and pack phases.
