Evaluating the packing phase - 'simple' with Moldex3D

ESPECIALLY FOR OUR USERS

Once you have optimized the filling of the part, you are faced with the challenge of evaluating the packing phase! Use the melt core result to assess the component's pressure transfer potential.

Finding the ideal packing time during the injection molding process on the real machine is challenging. The weight of the component is often used for this purpose because one cannot look inside the part. Simulation provides additional information about the condition of the plastic in the component during the injection molding cycle, and it is possible to take advantage of this. The melt core result, for instance, can assess the presence of melted areas in the part and the duration of the melt core's existence between the part and the gate. This knowledge is crucial to determine the effective packing time. Additionally, the melt core result can identify potential problem areas in the part that are at an increased risk of warpage due to free shrinkage. When evaluating, it is beneficial to have results at specific intermediate points in time.
