Measurement functions in Moldex3D
ESPECIALLY FOR OUR USERS
Tolerances often need to be maintained to ensure the functionality of the component (for example on contact surfaces within assemblies). Moldex3D can assist in dimensional accuracy assessment through various measurement functions. In Moldex3D 2025, many useful analysis features have been added, such as right-angle and parallelism measurements according to ISO 1101.
In most cases, a technical drawing specifying dimensional tolerances already exists before the tool is designed. Various tools are available to assess whether the simulation result is dimensionally OK and evaluate the warping results. While deviations from standard results are displayed in the best fit, alignment can be defined according to the measurement plan using local best fit, anchor plane, 3-2-1 alignment or RPS alignment. As well as measuring roundness and flatness and changing alignments and distances, it is now also possible to determine perpendicularity and parallelism deviations according to ISO 1101. The roundness measurement has also been updated, and in addition to the existing functionality, it is now possible to display either the centre of the CAD geometry or the deformed circle. Various simulations can now be used to assess the influence of process parameters and injection variants on the roundness, flatness, perpendicularity and parallelism of defined functional surfaces.
