++ Turtle Project ++ at FAKUMA 2024

The ++TURTLE PROJECT++ is a mutual project by Contura MTC GmbH, Cycle Temp, Formconsult Werkzeugbau GmbH, Konstruktionsbüro Hein GmbH, KraussMaffei and SimpaTec. It impressively demonstrates what one can achieve when solutions are developed together right from the beginning. The result is an absolutely economical, cycle time-optimized process with an end product that makes no compromises in terms of quality. All the companies involved are based in Germany and complement each other perfectly.

The mission of the project
The project shows how to achieve high-surface quality on the exterior side of the component whilst having a recycled material on the inside. The solution is using a sustainable sandwich-method, having an energy-efficient injection molding tool using conformal cooling temperature control and machine performance at the highest level. Each of the project partners takes on a very specific part according to their primary expertise.

Right from the beginning, it was clear that the production process had to run optimally. Nothing was left to chance. SimpaTec provided the simulations to not only identify but ultimately also eliminate potential problem areas long before production.
